The Media Library

The media library is where you manage all your images, videos, audio files, and documents. You can find the media section under Media > Library.

The toolbar

The toolbar provides an easy way to view and search your media files

Click the toggle icon to display your files in a list view instead of the default grid view.

Filter your media by using the "All media items" and "All dates" dropdowns, as well as the search bar. 

Add a file

To add a new file click the "Add new" button and then click "Select Files" to upload the file you want. Alternatively, you can drag and drop the image you want to upload from your computer to the media screen. 

The upload section tells you the maximum file size you can upload which is suitable for most file types. However, if you find you would like to upload a larger file please contact [email protected]

Edit

To edit a file simply select the image to display the available options.

Alternative Text

This field is used by screen readers to describe the image to visually impaired users. 

Title

The name of the title is automatically added here using the image filename, however, you can change it to something more descriptive. This is displayed when viewing the list of media files in the list view.

Caption

The caption is usually displayed underneath the image as a short description in your post/page.

Description

This is displayed on the files attachment page.

Delete

To delete a file, open the edit screen and select "Delete Permanently".
